Written almost five hundred years ago, The Prince has over the centuries served as the manual for the most effective acquisition and consolidation of political power, earning Florentine public servant and political theorist Niccolo Machiavelli posthumous recognition as the father of modern-day politics. In The Prince, Machiavelli s most famous treatise on political strategy, the end justified the means in the quest for political stability in a princedom. He is remembered for infamous quotes such as: it would be best to be both loved and feared.
