This Blog Is About My Experiences with The Welton School in South Korea

This blog is meant as a record of my experiences working for, and being left without a place to live or any money by the Welton School in South Korea.

Hopefully by writing this information out over the next days, I'll prevent anyone else from having similar problems in the future. Or at least if you do a google search you will have been warned.

Currently I have no official place to live.

I was given 3 days notice to leave my apartment, and no pay for the previous month.

Because I was a week or so away from reaching the 6 month mark on my contract, the school doesn't have to pay severance payment, and they are billing me for my initial flight to Korea, which has left me with a final pay of zero.

At this point I don't know what I'm going to do. I have contacted the school owner and explained my situation to them, and am expecting to turn myself over to the US embassy on Monday to see if they can help repatriate me to the USA.

I've been working as an English teacher in Asia for nearly ten years, and nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

According to this resource, it happens pretty frequently in Korea, though. Caveat.
